New Dog Training Class & Updated CGC in January
Our new Beginner Basic training class is starting January 14th! This 7-week class is open to puppies and adults that need an introduction to the basics. Sit, down, wait, stay, plus other basic commands and some games will be included. We’ll also have a new structure for our Canine Good Citizen training class starting January 7th. The class will be divided into two groups: the CGC Intro group for dogs to learn each skill individually, and the CGC Prep group for dogs to put the pieces together and prepare to take the test at the end of the class. Visit the Dog Training page on our website or call 804-288-3647 for more details on these classes. As always, spaces are limited and registration and prepayment are required.
Tacky Sweater Contest
DogServices will hold it’s 2nd Annual Tacky Sweater Contest on December 8th and 9th. Photos will be taken in front of a plain background and posted on Facebook. The dog from each DogServices location with the most LIKES by the contest deadline will win a FREE BATH. Entry fee will be one donated item for Richmond Ruff House (RRH). RRH is a new non-profit rescue group dedicated to improving life for dogs waiting to find their forever home. While the RRH founders were fostering for another rescue group and volunteering at RAL, they saw the need for more help. Cindy Larkin of RRH says “we pretty much turned our backyard into a doggy paradise and want to provide rescue/foster dogs a fun, safe environment while they wait for their forever home, not just a crate, food, and water. We want to combine the best parts that we saw in all the rescues. Our goal is to eventually have a physical location but with more of a daycare feel than a shelter feel.” What a great mission! We’ll be collecting donations for RRH for the Tacky Sweater Contest and from anyone else who would like to donate throughout December. Suggested donation items include toys, treats, and laundry detergent. See our RRH Wishlist handout for more ideas on what you can donate.
Also on December 8th and 9th we will be taking Holiday Photos in front of a fun, decorated background and emailing them to participating dogs’ parents. If you would like for your dog to be included, make sure to sign up in advance! Spaces are limited. $5 fee to participate.
